The Belgian SUP Tour 2025 got off to a strong and dynamic start with the Paddle of the Kempen, an event that kicked off the new season in style.
Set against the scenic backdrop of the Kempen’s waterways, the race offered excellent early-season conditions and attracted a large and enthusiastic turnout of both competitive and recreational paddlers. Though not a Belgian Championship event, the race still featured high-level performances and intense competition.
In the men’s elite category, Kjell De Bruyn delivered a commanding performance, establishing a clear lead early on and extending it throughout the race to secure a well-deserved victory. On the women’s side, Loranne Vleminckx showed similar dominance, paddling with precision and power to finish well ahead of her closest challengers.
The event served as a vibrant and positive season opener, bringing the SUP community back together after the off-season. The supportive atmosphere, smooth organisation, and participation across all age groups reflected the inclusive spirit of the Belgian SUP Tour.
As the dust settles in the Kempen, anticipation is already building for the next race in Blankenberge. Featuring a unique format — a mass start followed by a pursuit race — this seaside event will test both strategy and endurance, promising exciting head-to-head action.
