14-Year-Old Talent Loranne Vlemincx Gears Up for the Championship Stretch of the Belgian SUP Tour
Loranne Vlemincx, a 14-year-old rising star from Mol, Belgium, is making waves in the international SUP scene. With impressive wins in long-distance racing, Loranne has already claimed three gold medals in the SUPNL’s NK SUP Tour 2024 in the Netherlands, and stood on the podium at the EuroTour in Namur.
Her Training Routine
Loranne trains with Kempen SUP club, balancing four weekly water sessions with her school and social life. She trains on the canal, and in the summer, sometimes at sea.
During the 2020 pandemic, Loranne discovered SUP as one of the few sports allowed. Her first competition was in Ghent in 2021, joining her club members and her trainer Michel Keersmaekers.
The Kempen SUP club, with around 60 members, feels like family to Loranne. The youth paddlers participate regularly, and training sessions are structured yet fun.
Belgian SUP Tour Participation
Loranne competes in as many BST races as possible, where this year, competitions also involve Dutch participants, raising the level of youth competition.
She finds inspiration in her trainers and experienced paddlers like Kjell De Bruyn, Donato Freens, and Emma Freja Pedersen.
Loranne’s advice: keep it enjoyable – having fun on the water is key!
